A mother of prodigals wrote to tell me of a raindrop, evidence of answered prayer for her family. She wrote: “I see a small crack in the door and light is creeping in.” She wrote: “No matter how dark the tiniest beam of light lets you see.” That is beautiful!
The time between when a door is shut and the next one opens can sometimes be a painful time, a time of uncertainty and fear. That is true for this journey of loving and praying for a prodigal. The wait between the time when they shut the door against a relationship with God and when the door is once again open is a pain-ridden time, and it can also be a time of uncertainty and even fear.
Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9). He is the way to the Father. He is the door.
He also said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). He knocks, inviting prodigals to open their hearts to Him.
When we see movement toward God or toward healing, our eyes are drawn to the light being let in by the crack in the doorway. A crack in the doorway is amazing, because it is evidence of a new opening toward the Lord, evidence of God’s working in their lives, and evidence of answered prayers.
I see that light peeping through that crack in the door!
