Two things about the Magi: 1) they spent their lives studying the skies, looking for truth and how it affected life on earth; and 2) it is possible they heard about the coming King from Daniel.[1] The Bible tells us that when they saw the star, it moved them. They obviously made preparations, gathered supplies for the trip, secured gifts for the new King, and then actually sought Him out. They didn’t know Him. They didn’t even know to go to Bethlehem to find Him, but they kept on seeking for Him.
And they found Him. They found Jesus, and they worshiped Him.
Now, prodigals who once said they no longer believed in God are realizing there really is something out there, and they are seeking. They are looking for truth, and we know the Bible promises that “he who seeks finds” (Matthew 7:8 NKJV). If they are sincerely seeking Him, they will find Him.
They will find Jesus, just like the Magi did, and they, too, will worship Him.
Our Father, thank You that so many prodigals are realizing there really is a power “out there” and all things were intelligently created, and that they now have a desire to find You. As they seek for truth, we ask that You remove every obstacle blocking their finding You. Lord, “‘“open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to [You], that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in [You]”’” (Acts 16:18). Thank You for Your faithfulness to hear and answer our prayer and to fulfill Your promises that “he who seeks finds.” In Jesus’ name we pray.
