Doubts? Review

We all have questions about God, why He does what He does, why He allows what He allows, why He doesn’t do certain things we just know should be done now, or why things are the way they are.

Also, there is no way in our finite minds and bodies we will ever comprehend the vastness, greatness, majesty, power, glory, or victory of God or understand all of His wisdom, thoughts, and ways. (It surely is fun trying, though.) However, reviewing the things He’s done for us or others, either in our day or Bible times, and knowing who He is as revealed in His Word and in the things He’s created, there is no way we can discount Him or doubt Him or His love and motives toward us.

So, when we get in a place of doubt, we must review:

  • Testify, remembering what He’s done for us personally, maybe even list them, but definitely thanking Him for them.
  • Read the incredible acts of God in the Old Testament and the book of Acts.
  • Read the things Jesus did and said in the gospels to rediscover the Father, because Jesus said He revealed the Father (John 14:7-10; 5:19-20).
  • Get out into God’s creation, including people watching, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20, emphasis added).

This week the Lord brought me to the realization that I may not understand all about God, but I can’t doubt Him.

I know Him as Healer, because I’ve been miraculously healed. I know His forgiveness, because He has forgiven me so many times. I know Him because of the favor He has shown me in orchestrating details of my life only He could orchestrate.

I see Him in sunsets, each one uniquely beautiful. I see Him in the vastness of the ocean. I see Him in the creativity in the varieties of birds, trees, and people. I see Him in the tiny fingernails of a newborn. I see Him in the hearts of His people as they walk in their personal anointing.

I most definitely see Him in the salvation, restoration, and deliverance of prodigals!

What in creation points you to God? What miracles have you witnessed in your life or another’s? How did the Lord work your salvation? What miracle in the Bible impresses you the most?

We may not understand God, but we believe in Him and trust Him. He is good, consummately good, does good, and gives good and perfect gifts to His children (James 1:17).
