My Papa, Bishop J. R. Henderson, is known to have said this phrase: “When the Bible says all, that means there ain’t no more.”
What a truth to which to cling!
As we read God’s Word, when we come across all, we can know that there is nothing else to consider.
So, with this in mind, I pulled the following verses from the promises in my book, Fighting for Your Prodigal through Prayer. Read and cling to these verses, and keep your own list to review when your faith takes a hit.
Promises Regarding Who God Is
- “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all” (1 Chronicles 29:11).
- “O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?” (2 Chronicles 20:6).
- “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations” (Psalm 33:11).
- “The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works” (Psalm 145:9, 17 KJV).
- “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26 KJV).
- “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 KJV).
- “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20).
Promises Regarding Promises
- “And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed” (Joshua 23:14).
- “There has not failed one word of all His good promise” (1 Kings 8:56).
- “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us” (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Promises Regarding Us
- “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God. … Blessed shall be the fruit of your body” (Deuteronomy 28:2, 4).
- “Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord” (Psalm 31:24).
- “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4 KJV).
- “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles” (Psalm 34:17).
- “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him” (Psalm 145:18-19 KJV).
- “… to comfort all that mourn … to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified” (Isaiah 61:2–3 KJV).
- “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
- “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
- “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).
Promises Regarding Prodigals
- “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You” (Psalm 86:5).
- “Your faithfulness endures to all generations” (Psalm 119:90).
- “And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord” (Jeremiah 23:3–4 KJV).
- “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions” (Joel 2:28 KJV).
- “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (John 12:32 KJV).
- “… who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).
- “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9 KJV).
And, for now a prayer for us all: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).
