Willing and Not Willing

Willing

“The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41).

Jesus’ spirit was willing to die for all of us to pay the required price for our sins. He overcame the flesh and died so we wouldn’t have to. His willingness provides for our salvation and the salvation of our prodigals.

Not Willing

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

His not being willing provides for our salvation and the salvation of our prodigals, too.

Willing

He is also willing to:

  • Hear the prayer of the righteous.
  • Answer the prayer of the righteous.
  • Keep all other promises.

More than willing: He is able, intends to, and will always keep His promises.
