Noisy Floods

“The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea” (Psalm 93:3-4 KJV).

No matter the floods that try to overwhelm us, and no matter the noise of the journey of living with a prodigal, we know that the Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters and mightier than the mighty waves of the sea.

He promised that we would not be overcome by the waters: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you” (Isaiah 43:2). When we are in the floods, when situations scream, we can ask the Father what conduits He wants built between Himself and our prodigals and concentrate on praying about those things, knowing there is a promise there about His work in their lives, His plans for them. Perhaps those conduits are the same things presently screaming for resolution, the things making the most noise. We can trust Him with those things.

He said in Jeremiah 32:27: “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” Read that again remembering what Papa Henderson used to say about the word all in the Bible: “When the Bible says all, that means there ain’t no more.” That means God is still God of our prodigals! We go to God, knowing He can do whatever needs to be done with the situation that is screaming, the ones trying to overwhelm us, as well as all the others! Nothing is too hard for Him!

“Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies” (Psalm 60:12 NKJV, emphasis added). It’s Him!

Amen!
