My Part/God’s Part

A woman was telling the story of hugging her prodigal son and the Lord speaking to her that this was what He wanted her to do: to love him.

Loving them is our part.

Sometimes that love takes on a different face: a hug, a place to sleep, food, clothing, listening, tough love where you withdraw help because it is enabling, being there for them in ways you need to be, including them, telling them you love them, speaking life to them, telling them the good things you see and ways you appreciate them, sending them a text, taking them to lunch.

The possibilities are endless.

Those are the sometimes.

The always parts of love are that we always fight spiritual battles for them through prayer. ALWAYS. And we never, ever give up!

The truth is that there are some things that we cannot do. Only God can, and we place those things back with Him through prayer. Those are His parts, His responsibilities, and when we really know this, peace comes in.

We can’t change a heart, but God can.

We can’t free from addiction, but God can.

We can’t heal a hurt, but God can.

We can’t send someone to witness to them, but God can.

We can’t be with them all the time, but God can.

We can’t protect them, but God can.

We can’t change a mind, but God can.

We can’t cause them to believe, but God can.

We can’t save a soul, but God can.

We do our part, and God does His!
