I was thinking about going to the beach for a few days to sit by the water. I want some peace, and sitting by the water usually helps bring me peace.
But I never felt the okay from God to go.
Then, this morning, the words of the song “Build My Life” by Housefires started rolling through my mind: “I will put my trust in You alone, and I will not be shaken.”
In Psalm 121, the psalmist apparently went through the same process, but instead of water, for him it was hills. However, he came to the same conclusion I did: he couldn’t achieve true peace from the hills, and my true peace doesn’t come from watching the waves roll in. It comes from the LORD who made the hills and the water.
So, today I am taking some time to connect with God in a way that the pace of the holidays limited, and so far so very good!
I hope this will bless you today. When you are stressed, when you need peace, when you know too much about your prodigal, when visits are reminders, find your peace in the LORD. His promises are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Psalm 121:
I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore (NKJV).
