Barely Holding On

Your faith is taking a hit, and it’s all you can do to keep your head above water. You’re starting to doubt God’s ability to answer your prayers for your prodigal. You can’t hear His voice, and you’re feeling anxious and scared.

But Jude 1:24 tells us that even in a place like that, in a time like that, even when we feel ourselves falling, the Lord is “able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy” (KJV). After all, “underneath” us “are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before [us]; and shall say, Destroy them” (Deuteronomy 33:27).

In His wisdom, He is not only able to keep us from falling, but He is able to present us faultless! Faultless! Like we never doubted or never allowed anxiety or fear to rule us. It may not make sense to us, but He can and does!

This is very good news, that even in this very difficult journey, the hardest days can’t keep Him from keeping us!

The next verse goes like this: “To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen” (Jude 1:25). So even when we’re barely holding on, let’s give glory “[t]o the only wise God.” On our hardest days, He is still worthy of “glory and majesty, dominion and power” always!
