“From … To”

There are verses in the Bible that tell us things God takes us “from” and “to” where He takes us:

“Faith to Faith”

Who of us couldn’t use more faith?

  • “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith’” (Romans 1:16-17).

“Strength to Strength”

And more strength?

  • “Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
    Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
    As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
    They make it a spring;
    The rain also covers it with pools.
    They go from strength to strength;
    Each one appears before God in Zion” (Psalm 84:5-7 NKJV; for more on the Valley of Baca, check out this blog: Through – Prayer for Prodigals).

And more glory of the Lord?

“Glory to Glory”

  • “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

This next one will take us to a different type of thought, a place we never thought we would have to experience with those we love so much …

“Evil to Evil”

… because it can describe the lives of our prodigals:

  • “‘And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies. They are not valiant for the truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, And they do not know Me,’ says the LORD” (Jeremiah 9:3).

But, there is …

“‘Grace, Grace’”

Grace answers the evil in their lives with hope. Even though these verses don’t have a “from … to” statement, they have a double blessing, so I added them for extra encouragement. (Maybe another time I will share other doubles I’ve found!)

  • “‘This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,”
    Says the LORD of hosts. “Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’” (Zechariah 4:6-7).
  • “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace” (John 1:16).

“Everlasting to Everlasting”

Before we close, let’s look at “from … to” verses that reveal an amazing attribute of our God, something that builds our faith in Him: He is “everlasting to everlasting,” infinitely in the past and infinitely in the future! He has always been and always will be. One of these verses even tells us His mercy is everlasting to everlasting, too!

  • “Before the mountains were brought forth,
    Or ever You had formed the earth and the world,
    Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God” (Psalm 90:2).
  • “But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
    On those who fear Him,
    And His righteousness to children’s children” (Psalm 103:17).[i]
  • “Blessed be the LORD God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen” (Psalm 41:13).

How did you like that bonus double at the end: “Amen and Amen”?

“So be it and so be it”!
