Truth Infusion

Peace is not what we see right now in the lives of our prodigals, but peace is what we want for them.

Truth is not what we see right now in the lives of our prodigals, but truth is what we want for them.

We can’t always be with them, but God is. We can’t always reach them, but God can. We can’t always convince them, but God can. We cannot give them peace, but God can. We cannot save them, but God can.

The Lord once told me He was infusing Himself into the ruminations of a prodigal for whom I pray (see the blog “God Himself Will Teach Our Prodigals”). What a lovely way to remind us He is teaching them, just as Isaiah 54:13 tells us: “All your children shall be taught by the LORD, And great shall be the peace of your children” (NKJV). I’ve shared this verse so many times in this ministry because it comforts us, especially when there is estrangement, but I am sharing it here because it links peace and truth. They will have peace because the Lord teaches them. So, we pray.

We spend much time praying about the sins in our prodigals’ lives, but their sins are just symptoms of the condition of their hearts. Addiction is a symptom. Stealing and cheating are symptoms. Acting on sexual and gender confusion is a symptom. Promiscuity, adultery, and fornication are symptoms. Lying, gossiping, and breaking promises are symptoms. Any other sin, “big” or “small,” is a symptom, but symptoms merely reveal the condition of the heart.

The real problem is that our prodigals have believed a lie that has kept them from relationship with the Lord. You may know the lie your prodigal has believed. They need to know the truth, so we ask the Lord to tell them the truth, to infuse Himself into their ruminations, because only He can! In fact, they can’t stop Him, and Satan can’t stop Him! He is right there with them and has the ability to do so, and it will clear up any doubts or fears keeping them from Him.

And their being with Him, in relationship with Him, forgiven by Him is what we want to see in our prodigals’ lives!

Our Father, our prayer is simple: infuse Yourself into our prodigals’ ruminations. Tell them the truth, and give them great peace. In Jesus’ name we pray.
