God will do so many things BECAUSE of His name. He protects His name, His reputation, His character, and He will keep His promises BECAUSE of His name. That includes: “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14:14). There are so many other things, too, but I wanted to point out the reason we pray in Jesus’ name: because of what God will do in His name, and because we were told to do so by Jesus in John 14:14.

Sometimes we say, “In Jesus’ name I pray,” out of habit, and it is a good habit, one in obedience to Jesus Himself, but let this be a faith-builder in your prayer time today for your prodigal. Pray for him/her in Jesus’ name, knowing that God will answer because of His name and who He is. He WILL answer!

Prayer: Our Father, help __________, “O God of [his/her] salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver [him/her] . . . For Your name’s sake!” (Psalm 79:9). I pray this in Jesus’ name.
