“He delivers and rescues,
And He works signs and wonders
In heaven and on earth,
Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions” (Daniel 6:27 NKJV).

Do you remember the story of Daniel and the lions’ den from Sunday School, how that Daniel prayed to God instead of the King and ended up in the den of lions for punishment, and how God shut the mouths of the lions and rendered them powerless against Daniel?

1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (emphasis added). He is roaring to be scary, but while he is powerful, he has no authority over God’s children, which nullifies his power in their lives. God’s power is so much greater than the devil’s.

The Word compares Satan to a lion–“like a lion”–but our God, who is immutable, never-changing, the same today as He was in Daniel’s day, is still rendering Satan powerless against His children! Our God delivers, He rescues, and He works signs and wonders in heaven AND in earth.

Our covering prayers invite God to stop Satan’s plans against our prodigals, and just like He delivered Daniel from the power of the lions, He will deliver them from the devil’s power!

Our Father, Satan has plans to steal, kill, and destroy __________, but Your power is so much greater! Just like you stopped the lions from hurting Daniel, stop Satan from hurting __________. Give him/her the abundant life You’ve provided. In Jesus’s name I pray.
