Perhaps you’ve seen the videos making the circuit of social media where a boat is traveling down a channel where fish are literally jumping into the boat. It seems too good to be true. (An example: https://youtu.be/mC3eXTcvfH0).
Speaking about Luke 5:1-11, Bishop William Lee stated his imagination went crazy when he read verses 4-6:
“When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, ‘Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.’ But Simon answered and said to Him, ‘Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.’ And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.”
Bishop Lee said he began to wonder how Jesus got the fish into the net. He said in his mind, Jesus called them by name and told them to get into the net: “Tuna fish, catfish, salmon, cod, trout, goldfish … .” You get the picture. After all, Jesus is the Master of creation.
In MY mind, Jesus is calling our prodigals by name and telling them to get back into the boat/net, back into His kingdom! He is calling, “Come back to Me, Anna, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Jesse, Marie, James … .” You get the picture! After all, Jesus is Savior!
May 2020 be the year they all come back to Jesus! Simon’s net broke from all the fish. May our churches explode with former prodigals saved, serving, ministering, winning the lost, worshipping … . You get the picture!
