“The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
The Lord is clothed,
He has girded Himself with strength.
Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.
Your throne is established from of old;
You are from everlasting.
The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice;
The floods lift up their waves.
The Lord on high is mightier
Than the noise of many waters,
Than the mighty waves of the sea.
Your testimonies are very sure;
Holiness adorns Your house,
O Lord, forever” (Psalm 93 NKJV, emphasis added).
Have you been to the beach when the waves are huge and powerful and so very noisy?
Have you seen floods after heavy continuous rain, with waters going way past normal limits, threatening life and livelihood?
Loving a prodigal can feel like a wave overcoming you. It can feel like a flood that is rising higher and higher, threatening you and those you love.
Psalm 93 says the floods HAVE LIFTED (past tense) and LIFT (present tense), but the Lord is mightier than the noise of the waves and mightier than the waves themselves. And that is FOREVER!
When the floods have already risen and continue to rise, and the waves are huge, and you feel the choices your prodigal has made and continues to make will prohibit life abundant for you and your prodigal, THE LORD IS MIGHTIER! That is the bottom line!
“The Lord reigns. The Lord on high is mightier.”
