“PROMISE: ‘For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God’ (Ephesians 2:8).
“PRAISE: Adonai, Lord and Master
“PRAYER: Our Father, give __________ faith so he/she can please You. Help him/her to come to You, believing that You are, and that You are “a rewarder of them that diligently seek” You (Hebrews 11:6 KJV). I pray this in Jesus’s name” (Winkelman, p. 28).
Today I read this prayer starter in my book, Fighting for Your Prodigal through Prayer, and these thoughts overwhelmed my heart with joy!
Our God IS Adonai, Lord and Master. It is such a great place to be, with His everlasting arms underneath us (Deuteronomy 33:27); His staff protecting and guiding us (Psalm 23); His great gift of salvation applied to our hearts (Ephesians 2:8).
I did not save myself, and neither did you, no matter how good we’ve been our whole lives. God has saved us. He gifted us the gospel. He gifted us faith to believe in Him. He gifted us mercy instead of giving us what we really deserve. He gifted us His salvation by HIS grace.
Our prodigals will not save themselves, either. It is the gift of God. He will gift them faith to believe in Him. He will gift them hope for salvation (Romans 15:13). He will gift them mercy and not give them what they deserve. He will gift them grace for salvation.
Salvation is His work, His doing, and He is ABLE to do the work. He will save our prodigals.
It is His work, so we pray.
We place them in a great place when we pray: with His everlasting arms underneath them; His staff protecting and guiding them; His great gift of salvation applied to their hearts!
